Almost three years have passed since my first blog was up and I am still making only four figure income from my online activities. I run multiple blogs.
Well, many people, like me, have this misconception that people who have more blogs make more money. Well this is not the case, at least not mine. When my first blog make money, I was so excited that I started developing more and more blogs even before my 1st blog was successful. I thought that the number of blogs would multiply my earning. Within 6 months, I had more than 10 blogs and all of them started making money, but a very few dollars per month. It was good when I added their earnings, but the amount of time they took was too much. I was the only one who was working on them, later hired few people who work on them and now I spend very less time on them.
As I live in India, I am still making more than an average income here. But, I regret my decision of making multiple blogs and dividing my time and energy among so many blogs. If I would have been patient and worked on a single website, I would have been able to pull a lot of money (maybe 10 times of what I am making right now) from a single blog.
There are so many bloggers who are doing pretty good in terms on money and the best things is that they have build an assent along, a brand and an identity for themselves. Recognition is is more important than money. So, I’ll advice you to stick to your blog and give at least six months to it. This is the average time a blog takes to get recognized unless are your related to a famous personality who can use his celebrity status to promote your blog.
Now, I have stopped developing new websites and start working on a Tech Blog, Tech Tip (the blogs is 3 months old and doing well in terms of traffic). The blog is not making any money as of now but I am sure it will, after 6 months, that’s the time you should give to a blog.
